NRHA Derby

The 2008 NRHA Derby was a huge success for the Boyle Barn. We had 5 of the 8 Derby entrants that make the trek from CA, make the finals in some or all divisions. Mike made the Open finals on A Smart Whiz owned by Marni Lopez, Kathy Stafford made the Lim. Open finals on her horse Whiz N Imp. Sara Pinckney made the Non-Pro, Int. and Limited-Non Pro finals on her horse Flashyverde, as well as Lindy Longfellow making all three divisions on her horse SLJ Smart and Juicy. Sara also placed high in the youth and Lindy in the Prime-time. Kayla Schenk also made the Limited Non-pro finals on her horse Westcoast Guns, even though, she had a bad ankle and couldn't even ride until it was practically time to show.

Lindy came out as the BIG winner, winning a saddle, two bronzes and a very large check. I think that she tripled her earnings in just that one show!!! Way to go girl!!!

We all had a lot of fun, picked up a kitten on the way (at the Big Texan Steak House in Amarillo-Mike's favorite stop). Rhonda Pinckney ended up taking the kitten home, she was really like a dog in cat clothes....Check out the pictures and hopefully we will all have a GREAT Reining By the Bay show.....see you there.

NRHA Town Talk at the Spectacular

Mike is planning on doing an NRHA Town Talk at the Spectacular Show-Northwest Affiliate Finals. The Talk will be on Friday evening, August 31, 2007 and will be during the evening gathering that Rancho Murieta is having in the upstairs mezzanine area. This should be a very informative talk about what is going on with NRHA, especially because the "big" voting weekend will have just been completed in regards to the highly talked about By-Laws and Rules changes. He will be there to speak about NRHA and answer any questions that you might have. See you there!

When Mike is not being the NRHA President

Check out Mike on this reliable "steed". This horse-power never needs to be put in the round corral, doesn't need any schooling, but does have a high flip-over rate. Can you believe that our NRHA President rides this kind of "horse"? I think that after his wild ride this year with NRHA, he will be glad to go out on his snowmobile for a ride with his family and friends. He especially likes to go out on night rides around our cabin by Tahoe.

WCRHA Banquet Boogie

I ran across these pictures (ones that Becky Hansen had taken at the WCRHA Banquet), what a crack up. In the upper photo dancing we have-Kim Yancey, Liz Sorrow, Brandon Boyle, Jess and Marla Sanders and Vicki Dias. They are all "gettin down". We all danced all night and had a great time. In the photo to the left, we have Jake Cagle dancing and singing. He was out on the dance floor most of the night showing us his moves. Then we have Diana Paboojian on the right, now this girl can dance. Her and Shannon showed us moves that we had never seen before, it must have been all those college dancing days. We are looking forward to the next WCRHA Banquet, you can check out all about it from the website www.wcrha.com Our local club has grown tremendously over the past few years and we do have some fun. If you are interested in joining, you can get info from the website on that too!

Gold N Grand

Gold N Grand was a great show! As you can see from the pictures, it was a fairly relaxed environment. The weather was really hot on Friday and Saturday, but then on Sunday the temperature dropped almost 30 degrees and was really nice. Many of us went over to school for the Spectacular Show and several people showed and won Buckles. Our group had fun as always including have 30 people in the Cagle's 5th wheel trailer. It is a huge trailer and extremely nice, however, we were worried that the tires would pop with all of us in it. But it held together quite nicely, for Martin's baby shower and our Spectacular stall decoration meeting. You just say party and we will all be there!
There were a whole large pack of people at this show. There were two pens of reiners that started at 7am and ran all day. It was great to see many people who we hadn't seen before at the WCRHA shows. We had about 28 horses at this show, so we were all busy, but it seemed fairly relaxed too....just check out the photos above. Liz and Gina should do a Dr. Pepper commercial!

NRHA Ballots are out!

Everyone really needs to vote for their candidates in "our" NRHA organization. The ballots are on the www.nrha.com website in the members only section. All you have to do is pull up the page where it says, Ballots- print it, fill it out and fax it back to the independent vote counters....easy! It will be very important who is voted to be on the board for the next years to come. Get involved and make a difference. You can read the bios on each person. Don't forget!!

Cutest Picture

Ok, so I know that this site is all about Reining Horses, but it mostly is......and this is the cutest picture.....of Brooke's dog Roxy sleeping on our cat......and they say that cats and dogs don't get along!
